A Busy Week

It’s been such a busy week that I haven’t had much time to think about something unique for a blog post.
I sent a short story (1500 words) out to four magazine publishers to see if I can get a ‘nibble’, and hopefully one of them likes it enough to want to publish it.
I’ve done quite a few critiques this week for other writers, some in the writing group and some outside of the writing group.
I wrote three stories (1500 words each) for the October writing challenge and the third one was my favorite and I’ve submitted it for the challenge. At first, writing about the topics seemed difficult, but by the third piece, the ideas were flowing easily, and I’m happy with the way the last one turned out.
I’ve got to get my butt moving and re-write chapter 3 of my wip, and start revising chapter 4. Since outlining, I’ve changed much of the sequence of events in my story, so re-writing has to occur. I think I’ll have some time after today to start working on it again.
With all the other things that go on in our daily lives, I think I’ve made some good progress this week.
I look back at my writing from 6 months ago and I can clearly see improvement in my writing, and I owe it all to my writing group and crit partners in the OWG. 🙂

  1. Great to see how the writing has progressed over time Pat. I keep trying to push the boundries with my own and whilst I’m not doing so well at Adult fiction, I’ve managed to get a couple of kids books written. I’ve just got to get brave enough to send them in.

I’m getting there and at some point I will do, but I want to get a few more ready first and see how things develop.

    • Gareth. Take a chance and send them out. You might be surprised. And what’s the worst that can happen. They’re sitting there where no one can read them. Be brave, and maybe others will get a chance to read your work also. I wish you the best in seeing your work published. 🙂

  2. It’s such a great feeling to look back and see progress. I’m so glad you found us! We love having on the boards. Good luck with your submissions and the contest! 🙂

  3. You’ve done a lot this week! Good luck with your submission!

  4. Thanks Angela. Loved your blog this week. It was very funny and down to earth. 🙂

  5. You’ve got a lot done! I wish I was keeping up with my writing as well as you have. 🙂 Good for you, and good luck.

  6. I hear you on the busy part. Where does our time go, anyway? I need to get cracking on my WIP, but I’ve got some crit work to finish up first.

  7. Crits all done. But time does fly! I also need to do some work on my wip. Hopefully NaNo will get me moving quicker. 🙂
